5 Ways to Showcase Your Graphic Design Work on Social Media
As graphic designers on social media, it only makes sense to post your work for potential clients or employers to see.
When it comes to how we showcase our projects, there comes a time when we all think, "Am I getting too repetitive?". 🤔
Or maybe that's just me...
If you can relate, here are 5 different ideas for how you can showcase your work on social media! 📸
1. Mockups
Let's start with the basics – mockups! There are 1000s of free mockups that you can find on free mockup sites.
The important thing to remember is to not use the same mockup twice or wait a really REALLY long time before posting it again on social; we're trying to not be repetitive!
You can use these mockups as a stand-alone showcase, combine them with other mockups in a seamless carousel, or make an entertaining Instagram reel or TikTok using trending audio. 🤌
2. Before vs After
Potential clients LOVE to see how you improved a project by seeing how it looked before you worked your magic. ✨
Whether you made a logo, designed a website, or updated a business card, show what it looked like before and the final result!
This could be a two-slide carousel, a single static post, or a short video.
3. Yearly Showcase Reel
This idea is more of a one-a-year type social media post. By highlighting all the work you've done in the past year, you've essentially created a portfolio in one video!
This is the perfect way to sell a potential client on your skillset and convince them to work with you. 💪
My suggestion is to first compile your projects in a professional horizontal video (that can be posted to your website) and then cut it down to a shorter vertical showcase reel.
4. Behind-the-Scenes Timelapse
Who doesn't love a good behind-the-scenes reel??
I love the simplicity of this idea because all you need to do is set up your phone or start a screen recording, and you can get right to work! 🏃
As the whole point is to showcase your work, make sure that the main focus is on your working file.
5. Multi-Post Mini Case Study
Finally, a great way to have a few days of content to post is by breaking down your project design process into multiple stages.
Let me explain. 👇
You can start by posting about the research and brainstorming phase by showing a mood board or sharing a few of the concepts that didn't make it to the next stage.
Next, you might post the logo and even make a mini-process video on how you created it!
Then maybe your next post focuses on the extra assets created like multiple social media posts laid out in a feed, branded stickers, product packaging, or whatever applies.
See? That's an easy three days worth of content AT LEAST! 🤩
Take any of these ideas and start showing off what you can do. 💃

Until next time,
