Should You Be ‘Unhinged’ on Social Media? 3 Chaotic Brands to Learn From.

If you're starting to develop your brand on social media, you may be wondering what kind of personality and content style you should adapt.

Should you be educational? Funny? Sarcastic? 🤔

Deciding how to portray your brand to your audience is important for consistency and attracting your target audience. Plus, it makes it 1000 times easier to come up with content!

Let's take a deep dive into 3 'unhinged' social media brands! 👇

1. Duolingo

There's a 50/50 chance that you've come across this brand on social media or at least heard of it. That's because Duolingo does an INCREDIBLE job at utilizing their platform to reach a huge audience.

It's no wonder that they've gone viral on TikTok for their unhinged, and perhaps dark, content.

People often comment 'Duolingo I extended my streak, please give my family back.' Or 'I finished my lesson, but I still see a green owl outside my bedroom window.'

Duolingo embraces the outspoken 'fear' of its users and comments back with more threats. Dark humour is Duolingo's specialty. 🥰

👉 What can you learn from this?

Engage with your audience and refer to the comments for content inspiration.

2. Wendy's

Would it be an 'unhinged' social media blog if Wendy's wasn't mentioned? 🫢Wendy's is chaotic on whole a different level. I mean CHAOTIC. Wendy's has fully embraced Gen Z humour by exclusively using memes.

Seriously, look at their Instagram. Do you see anything besides hilarious content?

Most of their memes are far from 'professional' or 'nice looking'.

That is the whole point. Unhinged marketing is comparable to carelessness but with purpose. 🫡

👉 What can you learn from this?

Create memes that are the furthest away from perfect-looking as possible.

3. Ryanair

You may be wondering, how can an airline of all brands be unhinged??? 🧐 Ryanair certainly shows us how any industry could utilize chaotic-ness for its social media platforms.

They've gone viral for their unhinged content and have gained a massive following on TikTok with avid brand followers.

Ryanair isn't afraid to call out the Karens of the budget airline world... And people are LOVING it.

They most often use greenscreen filters (👁️👄👁️) to call out their customers' ridiculousness.

Using a greenscreen is also a great way for your audience to see real photos of your product, while not being overly sales-y.

👉 What can you learn from this?

Utilize greenscreens to show your physical product in an entertaining fashion.

Call out your unhinged customers (but be sure to approach with a level of caution, as there is a line). 👀
